MODERN USAGE: The larger size makes for a beautiful, very impressive conference or dining table. This is a sturdy, dependable piece in any size, that elegantly combines a sense of history and modern aesthetic.
ANECDOTE: Tables are where people have met over the centuries for meals, meetings, prayer, games and discussions. The four-legged table originated in ancient Egypt, and Greek and Roman tables were often slab-sided, as tributes to altars. Tables in ancient Rome were low in height to accomodate people seated on low couches. The rectangular shape signifies authority, but King Arthur purposely used a round table to symbolize equality.
NOTE: These pieces are vintage and although we pride ourselves in hand picking the best possible antique pieces, they all will show "character marks", minor dings and dimples acquired over years of service.
